Inorganic and phototrophic sulfur-oxidizing bacteria can use reduced sulfur to obtain energy under anoxic or anaerobic conditions, and at the same time use nitrate as electron acceptor to reduce it to nitrogen, so as to achieve autotrophic denitrification process.
